Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, took control to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
